| Subject: How To Get The Girl At The Gym - AFC Adam Tue Mar 25, 2008 1:01 am | |
| *My local gym is packed with beautiful girls, but no matter how often I go I can’t seem to find the correct opportunity to approach. How do I approach a girl I like in the gym?
*The gym is one of the best places to meet someone new.
It’s a place where you get to meet a whole bunch of new people on a regular basis and you already have something in common.
As you rightly spotted, starting a conversation may not always appear as easy as it could be. However, with a little bit of forward thinking it can actually be incredibly simple.
Watching a girl complete her 25 minute sprint on the running machine, whilst leaning on the side of her machine with a sly look on your face would NOT be the best way to go about this, and interrupting her workout would be even worse.
The trick in these situations is to think outside the box.
The easiest way to go about it is to do the approach in a different area of the gym. One of my personal favourites is the sauna. I’m lucky enough to
have a mixed sauna at the gym near where I live. Whenever I’m in there and I see someone I like the look of, I make a point of initiating conversation. This could start from something as simple as a casual approach or what i call a situational ice breaker, one that makes a casual reference to the setting;
“Why does a sauna always feel so much better after a workout?” “Seriously everytime I come in here I could just fall asleep” “The problem with coming in here is that I never want to leave”
Also, one of my favorites is to use something the other person does as an excuse to start the conversation. Saying “bless you” if they sneeze, for example, or even better asking them if they had a busy night the night before when you catch them yawning.
I had a great intereaction once with a girl I met in my local sauna.
As I was laying in the sauna the most beautiful girl came in and then began humming.
I sit listening, for a while and then broke the ice.
Adam: The first song was Amazing Grace, but I’m afraid I couldn’t work out the second one.
Girl: OMG I’m so embarrased. You could hear me? Adam: Yes, I could. It reminded me of my mother who used to sing to me as a child. She was from the Ukraine (I heard the accent)
Girl: OMG I’m from Russia! Adam: No way! Awesome. Girl: Yeah, so what where you doing here? Adam: I was working out… at the gym. Girl: So what do you do? Adam: Alot of things, I beleive it’s important to live each moment as if its your last. Too many people waste their time and then regret it later. I’m not one of those people.
We have some casual conversation for a while, then I walk away and tell her I’m heading to the jacuzzi and will see her around.
I wait 10 minutes, then meet up with her in the lounge area. I knew it was ok to leave as she would have to walk past the jacuzzi to leave the sauna.
Adam: Following me, eh?
We talk a while longer, and I tell her I have to leave, but that I’d like to take her up on the offer of taking me to the Rose Garden Cafe. ( She didn’t offer, but did tell me about it during our chats)
I tell her I don’t have a pen to take her number and ask how much longer she will be at the gym
Girl: Well I’ve only just arrived. Adam: Well how about I go get changed and meet you in the reception in 10 minutes and you can give me your number then? Girl: Yes that works.
We swap numbers and I ask which direction she’s headed.
Girl: Oh, I’m going back into the gym to get my work out.
She’d only just arrived and she got dressed to come outside to give me her number only to go back in again.
There is nothing particulalry incredible about this. The fact is, if you have a genuinely interesting conversation with someone and have a reason to meet with them again then they are often more than happy to go out of their way to give you their number in order to meet up again and continue the conversation. Also, if they have put a degree of effort in to giving you their number they are less likely to ignore your first phone call.
Think clever.
Don’t try and speak during the middle of their work out. Use the sauna, cafeteria, reception or even the stretching area. You can ask them to hand you a piece of equipment. Once you’ve broken the ice the whole thing gets a lot easier. | |
