The "Tipping Point", your guide to social success

There comes a time in life when all of the sudden... things get easy.

No matter what your goal is... geometric progression takes over until
finally... you "break through"... and success explodes upon you.

The Tipping Point can be described as a social phenomenon where
you work at something hard enough... and the stars align... and things
come together.

Think about a fad.

Do you know how trends and fads come around?

First: The environment needs to be right.

Second: The message needs to be right.

Third: The carriers of that message must be right.

If you have all 3 of these things working in conjunction... you now
have a fad... or an epidemic... or someone famous...

Let's go back to a prior post of mine about being a local celebrity:

In that post, I talk about how social proof can help to create this
for you...

But let's dig a little deeper.

The second element of a trend... or someone (you) being famous... comes
from your message being right. In many cases, controversial people
carry a profound message... one that can get pushed by both friends
and enemies alike.

This is why it's important to polarize yourself in many regards...
think about Paris Hilton... or Lindsay Lohan... or any one else that's
getting press.

Controversy.

Why is it that most rappers start a feud with someone else RIGHT
BEFORE their albums come out?

Why is it that Janet Jackson JUST HAPPENED to flash the world RIGHT
BEFORE her album came out?

Free advertising.

Word of mouth.

Getting people to talk about you creates an air about you... a
mystique. But, people don't just talk about normal... boring sh*t.

Hell no, most people only talk about things that are DEFINATIVE or
amazing... things that THEY would never do... or wished that they would
do.

Do things that people will talk about. Create a message that YOU
are the person that people WANT TO BE... or even associate with.

Do people brag to other people because they know who you are?

They will if you have the right message. So think about it for a
minute. Your message is WHO YOU ARE. Remember, perception is
reality. If people perceive you to be a slob... well... then you're a
slob... at least to everyone that matters.

So cultivate your message... create your style... create at life that
people can talk about.

Enter Number 3:

Let's say you've got a great message... now what.

Well, like the old adage says... "If a sound is made in the forest...
but no one hears it... was a sound really made?"

Same thing here... if you have a great message... but no one to tell
it... do you really have a message?

Now you're on my wavelength.

If you'll notice... I always tell you to associate yourself with
"hubs"... or peope that know other people. For obvious reasons, if
a "hub" likes your message... it will get spread throughout all of
his/her friends at some point.

The only disadvantage of most "hubs" is that they have lots of
acquantances... but not as many close friends that they share things
with... so your message may move far and wide... but it might not have
the "energy" behind it to propagate it.

Enter the "raving fan"...

Have you ever met a person that is just googly over a certain
celebrity?

Have you noticed that they just DON'T stop talking about this
person?

Guess what? This also is going to apply to YOU as well.

Do you have "raving fans"? People that tell other people EVERYTHING
you do... people that brag to others that they know who you are?

Raving fans can spread your message like no other. Oh, and for the
men... if you have a lady that's a raving fan... she's gonna blow you
up around everyone she knows (social proof in full effect).

But do you know what the best thing about raving fans are?

They completely IGNORE ALL of your bad qualities... and make you even
LARGER than life.

BEWARE: a raving fan can also be turned against you if you sh*t on
them hard enough. If that's the case trouble CAN brew. BUT,
depending on the situation... the notoriety could be worth the
additional "press"... like the bad boy that can't be tamed scenario.

Use with caution... very volitile.

This brings me back to number one: the environment.

If the environment is ready for a person like you... it will resonate
with you... almost like a natural frequency.

It's almost like throwing a can of gasoline on a match flame.

Think about this... if you're in a densly populated area of people
that specifically respond to a person like you... don't you think your
message will spread like wildfire?

Of course.

To bring it all together... the tipping point occurs when you work on
your message enough that you create "raving fans" that help to
push your message through an environment thats poised to receive
you.

Is it possible to become a local celebrity... or even a celebrity in
general.

Absolutely... just work towards the tipping point.
