On getting closer but still staying at arm's length...

I see a dilemma approaching, and I need a little bit of assistance here.

I have been in a few relationships and recognize the initial stages (the "lock," it feels). I've been talking with a girl lately who I seem to connect with pretty well. It is a lot of fun, but I'm not even slightly interested in allowing it to develop into anything exclusive. The last thing I need right now is a girlfriend.

Yet, I really do enjoy talking to this girl and would like to keep getting to know her better. I really don't want to be dishonest with her, and the last thing in the world I want to do is hurt her by allowing her to build a false impression.

I'm getting way ahead of myself with this, but that is both because I don't want to make little mistakes along the way that give her the wrong idea and I want to be prepared to handle "the conversation" when it does eventually come up. How do I maintain my integrity and still get what I want?

All you can do is be honest and upfront about your intentions. You are not looking for anything serious so let her know that.

Also, why not bring up this conversation ahead of time...or figure out a way to make an appropriate comment about you not being ready to date exclusivly. (do not say the last thing you need is a girlfriend lol)

And, despite the possability of boring you, im going to say the following...

If you ever took karate then maybe you also have had to break a board with your fist...if not you have still seen it and can visualize what im talking about. I personally have, and in that class you always face a bit of anxiety your first time.

The instructor usually tells you something like this..."Do not focus on the board, instead focus on a point past the board and punch that point."

Business and life are often the same, there is NO getting ahead of yourself...as a matter of fact successful people are the ones ahead of the game so to speak, because they plan for the future.

So get ahead of yourself as often as you can.
