Now this class Im enrolled in is awesome. The first week our homework was to break the social norm in some way. It gave the example of getting in a lift and face the "wrong" way.
"If you were brave enough to do them, how did you feel before, during and after doing these exercies? Why do you think doing or even contemplating doing these exercises made you feel a particular way? Why may it have taken courage to do these exercises? What do the exercises tell us about the tension between our desire for individuality and the need for conformity?"
These last part in particular hit me. A 'PUA' or for that matter any man wants to stand out of the crowd in some way. Some people do it through being foolish some peacock, some just break these norms.
I have to say that before I did that one I felt like I did during my first club approach, I was shitting myself. During it I was having such fun seeing peoples reactions that I burst out laughing. After I was in a buzz, same as my first approach (even though i thought i failed).
I encourage you guys to try this. Say its for a study or something - it was. Who knows maybe a pretty girl will be in the elevator and let me tell you, its an awesome way to open if you get her to laugh, even better when she joins in;)
Another I did was walking backwards up the escalator. Sadly I did the other suggestion from the lecture and faced my palm down when accepting change (social norm to place palm up) and got kicked out of the club for being drunk
If you dont want to see if its possible for you to break these things, do it for pure self amusement, its classic!
