PostSubject: New to the Community ~Ranger   New to the Community ~Ranger I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 17, 2009 4:41 pm

HEY guys! Been browsing the forums from a distance for a while and decided to take a Jump into introducing myself Wink

I'm 22, From Devon, England, I'm relatively new, been using material and working on my game for the past couple of months now and had some incredible times! The amount I've expanded as a person recently is incredible, I've gone from struggling to create small-talk with anyone, to now K-closing/number closing on a regular basis as well as having the confidence to F-close where I wouldn't have had the confidence or ability to do so in the past.... I started an on-line Blog to document my introduction to the community, and my journey through it, for your reading enjoyment, below is the first post in my blog, hope you enjoy it Smile

In the beginning, there was a girl.... Every story begins with a girl, right?

Well,
I was engaged to this girl, of 3 years, readily willing to get married
and settle down, kids, house, the lot. Picture perfect life, so I
thought Smile

Well, lets just say, a few driving lessons, and a Fat, Bald, Old, driving instructor later, and my life was in ruins Wink

So,
I began to analyze my life, set down to working incredibly hard, made
extremely good progress in my career, but forfeit my love life and
social life for it.

My best friend of 12 years, henceforth known
as Raptor, came and hung out at my place a few times, he'd been
introduced to a community of people, a community of men (mostly Razz)
whose goal in life, to attract women, and better their lives in general
through the art of attraction. The Venusian Arts.

Raptor had
been a PUA for a few months, and had dated some very attractive women,
something I had never before thought possible, we were both the
un-natural type of attractive, we have quirks, and are around 7-8 on
the scale, of male attractiveness physically. We had both been fairly
cocky in general, however refination of "Cocky-Comedy" had been Raptors
forte.

After some convincing, we decided to hit the town, with
the intention of attracting women, I went out in a pair of fairly
baggy, oversized jeans, and a shirt, Raptor wore fitting jeans, and
nicely cut shirt, and skinny tie, with black shoes, he looked fantastic.

We
hit our local Wetherspoons, ordered a couple of Corona, and stood,
backs to the bar, facing the quite packed pub, myself, finding this
prospect daunting, and the social interactions that were going to be
inevitably pushed onto me, equally scary.

We moved slowly around
the pub, and Raptor leaned back and said those words i'll never forget,
that will be always inprinted on my mind as the start to EVERY game,
every set, every social interaction I enter into now. "Check out the
two set" he discretely signalled to two girls sat in a booth, he turned
to me and said "Come wing me, give me 2 minutes and head in" I stared
blankly at him, he flashed one of his all teeth very cheeky smiles, and
turned tail, heading slowly over to the table, approaching from the
side.

As instructed, I left it a couple of minutes, watched as
he spoke to the set, got a couple of laughs, and then sat down with
them, both accepting him into the group dynamic. I headed over, got up
to the table, and forced the words "Hey buddy! want a drink or anything
from the bar" admittedly, he already had a 3/4 filled bottle, as did I,
but the girls didnt notice, nor did they seem to mind, he turned to me
and said some more profounding words that again, will always be in my
vocabulary of signalled moves "No thanks buddy, I'm good, but have you
met..." (my memory becomes hazy with names, and later has become
something I have worked on and mastered the art of memorizing names) I
sat down uncomfortably, and began to speak to one of the girls, the UBF
/ Obstacle / Alpha Female of the group, taking her attention, forcing
small talk such as "what do you do then?" and "what do you want to do
in the future", this awkward interaction lasted little over 10 minutes.
Raptor signalled to me, and it was time to eject from the set, he left
giving both girls a Hi-5 and we headed back across the bar.

The
evening continued, and we left Wetherspoons, and hit another bar in
town, the music was much louder, and increasingly my comfort level was
pushed, as I had never been a fan of clubs/bars with loud music,
however, we hit the dancefloor, Raptor had forgot to mention that he
had been taking dance lessons, whereas I, was a two-left-feet type of
guy Wink

A few minutes passed, and Raptor was stood with a petite
blonde, whispering something in her ear, getting huge interest from
her, I waited until their interaction broke for a pause, and broke one
of the cardinal rules of a PUA, I started speaking to her, and AMOGing
him out, trying to lower his value and increase mine, to get the girl,
as Raptor had been doing PUA for some time, my attempts failed
miserably, leaving me disheartened, and him making out with the petite
blonde. A couple of sets later and we found ourselves heading home,
recapping the nights events;

I was informed that there are a few
things that are common for women to hear, the belittling of other guys
to lower their value, the usual "can I buy you a drink" lame chat up
lines, etc etc.

Raptor started by teaching me a few basic things;

* Smile.
* Always be higher energy than everyone around you, especially in set.
* Cocky comedy.
* Be confident, if you arent naturally confident, fake it until you are.

I was instructed to read (listen, in my choice) to the book "The Game" written by legendary PUA Neil Strauss a.k.a "Style".

Thus started my introduction to the Pick Up Community.

well, I feel comfortable opening sets, and am able to lock in more often than not, I understand the whole of my game in general needs to improve, and currently me and my wing sarge 3 to 4 nights per week, sometimes it's what I'd classify as social sargong, purely to build rapport with staff/doormen to give higher social proof in future, but mostly it's sargong for pick up.

I've had a few number closes from sarging that I've struggled to follow up on, I'm guessing that I'm possibly leaving set too early or not on a high enough note, but the main thing me and my wing are doing at the momnt is, we're spending a night when social sarging to sit and discuss our areas of improvement, improve on congruancy, and generally set targets to achieve.

Any advice on isolation from big sets, or how to handle big mixed sets would be good. Smile

Why have you struggled to follow up on number closing?

It's obviously great that you and your wing are working together on growing.

Leaving set too early or on a low note ARE common problems actually, so yes that's possible.

Now, isolation from a big and/or mixed set is basic. Once you've made friends with everyone in the set, and built enough attraction with your target to get her to want to come alone with you, you simply ask her friends "your friend and I like each other . . . would you mind if we go sit over there for a bit?" The same thing will work with both mixed or just large sets. Then you take the target and lead her to where you're gonna sit. The important thing with this scenario is making friends with all the obstacles.

The other, albeit more advanced option, is to build the targets attraction (spike the buying temp) so high that whatever her friends say won't matter, lol.

With regards to the number closing, it's getting responses from calls/texts again probably due to leaving set on a low, boyfriends, and not leaving on a high. Which is being worked on.

Thanks for the awesome advice so far, will be posting some field reports starting next week.

Ciao for now Wink
